Headway North Lanarkshire Is a
charity set up to give help and support to people affected
by brain injury in the North lanarkshire area of Scotland.
We are a group run by a dedicated committee,
at present we hold weekly meetings in
the Volunteer Centre in Wishaw,
North
Lanarkshire (84 Main Street ml2 7ab ) every
Thursday between
12 noon until 3:30pm. we run various
activities to help and support both A.B.I
and their carers all activities are supervised by our dedicated carers and
volunteers.
Many of our members
benefit from activities which assist with motor
coordination and stimulation, we are now
setting about the task of organising some events to acquire
games and equipment that would benefit our members
and improve
mobility.
Headway North Lanarkshire has
improved basic communication skills
which
promote good
team work among our members and social
interaction.
We are always
looking for ways to improve and broaden our member’s
skills and abilities.
The aim of our group is to
increase awareness of (A. B. I. )
Headway North Lanarkshire members are
very enthusiastic to try new skills ,every week I
see them achieving
more, being more confident and creative
in what they do, they
are also gaining more self confidence and determination
as they learn new
skills.
It can be a very
demanding and stressful job for a carer so we
also like the carer to come along and join
in with other
carers and get to know others in a similar situation which may
in turn be beneficial to
them.
As we are a self help
support group we are always on the lookout for new help
and support no matter how
small.
